I have pretty great health coverage, so I tend to be able to get whatever prescriptions I need. I know that I am VERY lucky in that regard!
However, a couple of years ago I had c-diff (it’s quite a story that I won’t bore you with) and the medication that would work best wasn’t covered by my insurance. In addition, it was VERY expensive. So I could either 1) use the less effective medication that my insurance would cover, or 2) pay a LOT of money for a medication that would work better.
I’m cheap…. so this was a hard decision. But c-diff is also TERRIBLE and I wanted to feel better as fast as I possibly could. Someone suggested that I check GoodRx and see if they had a discount code for it. Low and behold, they did!! I ended up being able to get the better medication AND not pay a crazy high amount from it (and I did feel better literally in 12 hours).
Whether or not you have health insurance, I suggest you check out GoodRx when you need a prescription. It’s free to get the discount card. You can search their site by the medication that you need and then the place you want to get it. I found that my grocery store had the best deal when I used their discount, not my usual pharmacy. Your mileage may very.

Good RX was the GOAT when my insurance wouldn’t cover a brand of my ADHD meds.
