We are big Chex Mix eaters in our house. You name a variety and we have had it. If you come to my house for any get-together, you will see Chex Mix of some kind. Sometimes I make my own, but often I just buy a couple of different varieties. At any given time I always have a bag of the Traditional as well as the Cheddar in my pantry. My personal year-round favorite is the Dark Chocolate, and I always load up on the limited edition Cocoa during the holidays.
You can make the Original Chex Party Mix in about 15 minutes and it is incredibly delicious when it is slightly warm coming out of the oven. But you shouldn’t stop there. The Chex Recipe website is full of recipes for everything from Buffalo Chex Mix to Gluten Free Snickerdoodle Chex Mix. My family always makes one with white candy coating for Christmas, and it was the first treat we started with this holiday season. After looking at all of the different recipes on the Chex site, we are going to be trying a lot of new ones!
Now that you are good and hungry, how would you like to win a Chex Prize Pack? To celebrate Kroger offering Chex cereal for their lowest price of the year from December 2-December 25, MyBlogSpark, Kroger, and Chex sent me a prize pack plus one to give away. My favorite is the original Chex Mix. My parents have a pan that fits exactly in their big 20+ year old microwave that can accommodate a whole batch. They have it ready for us when we come over for Christmas and/or New Years.

It’s not Christmas until the Chex Mix is made at our house!

I like the original recipe best. But sometimes I just add what I have around, never the same thing twice. Sort of a Chex Mix of the Day, if you will. Thanks for the opportunity!

I love the orignal Chex Party Mix to much to try a new one but we make the old recipe for it they had from the 70’s? before they reduced the butter and salt and also mix it up every year with different add in.

I love to make the original chex mix, you can’t go wrong! I double all of the spices (including the worstershire sauce) and think it’s amazing that way. I don’t like pretzels, but my sons eat all of those because that’s there favorite part and I don’t like nuts, but my husband eats all of those!

I like to make the original version but I spice it up a bit with tobasco sauce and red pepper flakes. We make our version with corn chex, rice chex, wheat chex, cheerios, pretzel sticks, and mixed nuts.

I like the Muddy Buddies recipe. I just saw this in a packaged variety in the grocery store last week too! We used to get this kind, aka puppy chow, for the birthday treats my classmates would bring in while I was in grade school.

I love the original chex mix…….it’s a family staple for holiday partys!
renita says
We love chex mix all year long, not just the holidays. I love the original, but with a nutty twist, so I substitute the honeynut chex instead of the wheat, and add a cup of pecans and a cup of walnuts.
My kids are peanutbutter lovers like their dad, so I make the boys special with 2 cups of peanuts or 1 cup peanuts and 1 cup of cashews.
When we want it a little more decedant, the last 5 minutes I stir in a bag of chocolate chips for the chocolate fix.
Any way you fix them chex mix is great.
Pam L. says
For special occasions I like to make the original Chex mix recipe but I use Bugles instead of the bagel chips. If I want the quick variety, I buy the Cheddar Cheese Chex mix in the bag!! 🙂
Carrie says
I love the original Chex mix recipe, but instead of Wheat Chex, I substitute Cheerios. They get all coated in the seasonings and bake up golden brown – yum! I also like to add cashews in for half of the peanuts. The holidays aren’t the same without some homemade Chex mix to snack on during the Christmas movies!
Robin says
I have to make several batches of original Chex Mix every holiday season. It’s a ‘requirement’. 🙂 What cracks me up is that my inlaws think it’s the most amazing thing ever- they never realized what homemade Chex Mix tasted like and that you baked it.
