Shrek Super Party

I'll be honest. I'm not a huge videogame player. It is not, however, for lack of desire. Rather, it is because of my lack of ability. Sure, I could play Super Mario back in "the day," but those days are long past. Now I find myself getting excited when I see a Ms. PacMan machine at Chuck-E-Cheese.

But this game has managed to make a junkie out of me. Not just me--my whole family! My kids love to watch the graphics and my husband and I like the friendly (most of the time) competition.

Shrek Super Party is a tournament game made up of mini-games. Each mini-game requires a different skill set but not much coordination. For example, some mini-games are played using only one button at a time or only the left and right arrows. You can choose your character, and each character has the same abilities. The graphics are pretty good considering that you are used to seeing Shrek and his pals on DVD. My husband is always Donkey, and I am always Fiona---you just don't mess with that.

One of the great features is that you can set the length of the game based on how many points to which you want to play. This can be adjusted for a quick lunchtime bout or a weekend marathon (yes...we've had both). Between one and four players can play at the same time, depending upon how many computer players you select.

Almost everyone who has ever played this game with us has enjoyed it. In fact, we even had my mother (who NEVER plays games) playing it with us over Thanksgiving. Three generations of the family played Shrek Super Party together over that weekend and taunted each other and laughed until our sides hurt. If that isn't a testament to the need to get this game for your family, I don't know what is. When Mom and Grandma are playing with the family, you know the game is a keeper.

On the down side, it does not appear that this game is currently being sold in the usual local places. So you'll have to check it out on one of the following or at a used game store:
